So know I want to built one. could anyone lead me in a go dic. to how to built one and what should I do. I want to built a fj40 linked. But I know it would cost alot. Maybe a toy. with springs well be fun.

There are plenty around here that would lead you on such a venture.

Check out the "TLT" forum. The Tamiya TLT is a great base truck to start from, and from there, you can end up building a nice scale truck with the FJ40 body.

What is your budget? If you make your own chassis, links, and mounts; you could make a nice TLT for around $200. A new TLT kit is $70 from ultimatehobbies.com and there is a used Stampede here for $100 with a lot of useful parts for the build. The only other things you would need is to make a chassis, servo and link mounts, then hook up some traxxas slider shafts and your crawling. Check out the stickies to see how to make your own links and misc parts.

haha... sure. look in the TLT forum... there is a thread with how much everyone has spent on thier tlt; very enlightening. If i had nothing to start with... a reasonable budget would be around 350$. Now you can break that down and say "find this used for XXX$" or "make your own for XXX$" and maybe get away a bit cheaper, but be realistic.

All that being said; welcome to the forum, if you have any questions to hesitate to search (then ask). "thumbsup"

if you are thinking of an fj-40 you are going to atleast spend 90 for just the body. im building a scale tlt rig and its not cheap! maybe a nylint?

fj40forlife 11-28-2006 07:43 PM

ya I know what you talking about. I seen them and cost alot. I think I rather built a truck right now like the black one.

anyone have like specs on theres
So I could start looking for parts or what to get

fokai 11-28-2006 07:47 PM

are you serious? that truck is going to cost you WAY more! that truck has so much custom work i wouldnt even know where to start! the axles on that truck alone go for over 100 bucks....good luck!"thumbsup"

Robb 11-28-2006 07:53 PM

The second one is a custom Tamiya Bruiser/Mountaineer.........................the base of that rig would cost you $600+ from the get go. Don't want to really think how much is in it as it stands!

fj40forlife 11-28-2006 09:12 PM

Well that was just example. Dont really want to have buggy springs. or custom axles right now. just something that wheels nive and upgrade a bit by bit
