Shock Screw Up

Anyone know the difference between the Axial Aluminum Shocks AX30090 and AX30103? I mistakenly ordered the AX30090 when I wanted the AX30103 Icon shocks. Is it worth returning them? I bought them from RPPHOBBY. Thanks for your help.

look to be nearly identical IMO

the faux reservoirs look to have different machining...
and the Axial shock bodies look to be hard anodized/coated.
whereas the Icons are bling shiny, licensed and likely cost more because.

but that's about all the difference that I see.
besides the steekers

I'd personally choose neither.

Besides the looks:
AX30103 has the AX30132 Polyoxymethylene machined pistons
AX30090 has the pistons from the AX80032 parts tree.

No experience with the AX30090, but I can tell you that the Icon's leak just as badly as the regular plastic bodies SCX shocks.

I suppose there is the possibility that the AX30090's are manufactured to tighter tolerances regarding the shock body inner diameter and how precisely the pistons fit, but I wouldn't expect them to hold oil much better.

So it's not worth returning them as I think you got the better of the two varients.
