Added NIMH battery links for non-lipo folk. Updated minimal price of RTR. Fixed a link or two. Added helpful links to SCX10 "Tips & Tricks" and Favorite Brushed Motor poll.

Fixed broken links & updated prices. Anything else I could do to make it more usable for n00bs? Thanks in advance for your input! |

The best brushed ESC recommendation for anybody, especially a noob, is the HobbyWing WP 1080. Much more adjustable than the 1060 and better than the now ancient SideWinder. 1080 doesn't need an external BEC either.

Anybody know how powerful of a servo we can run on 3a? 150oz? 200? 250? 300? n00bs: check your servo specs ideally before buying a servo, but at least before hooking it up to this ESC; you'll need to set the voltage correctly to 6v or 7.2v depending on what your servo can handle without burning out. For example, the Hextronix I recommend in the first post can run 7.4v, while the Turnigy has a 6v limit and would therefore need the WP1080 ESC set to 6v prior to hooking up the servo. Apparently Hobbyking has stopped making the version 1 hex drivers (socket included) and is now only selling v2. Furthermore they are not in the US store yet. And as if that wasn't enough, they're out of stock! Thankfully they're available elsewhere: Drivers: http://www.rpphobby.com/product_p/rc4z-f0030.htm Sockets: https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_odk...5.5+7&_sacat=0 Last edited by StomperCrawler; 09-08-2017 at 12:10 AM. |

| re: "New to crawling; what to buy?" Guide Wiha eh? Is that a bad thing? I noticed several on eBay from highly rated sellers in the US running about $15 shipped: https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_fro...c&LH_PrefLoc=1 Would those be better? |

Honestly I have some sentimental attachment to my V2, it hasn't given up and I won't be replacing it till it does. I just end up building a new rig. I somewhat feel that way about the 1080 at forty bucks. Between the price, the internal BEC, it not breaking on me and the easy of use. I'm sure other who have a better idea how to tune their motors might have a better options. But for a new person or someone that might run hard but isn't a top level competitor you can't beat it. I may be a bit to excited about the promoddlers but, I've mailed so many servos back for repairs it's very refreshing to have something that just works. My family all comps so we have 12 crawlers that I keep up and running. Didn't mean to over fan boy it. 149 r/c worx/scalerfab/team brood. |

The second link should pop up with correctly-sized socket drivers from various sellers on eBay; I just tested it. Is it not working for other peeps? | |
