Default Yeti Kit motor/esc combo's.

So..after many hours of searching here and google, I am still a little lost on motor and esc combos for my Yeti Kit.

From what I have found on here, MMP/RX8 with a Pro4HD motor are just about what everyone runs. But most that are running those are doing that for the sensored operation at low speeds for crawling/U4 events.

The Yeti I have will more than likely never be a crawler, I have my scx10's for that, and where I live, there are no U4 events. It will be a basher.

Is a sensored setup necessary for a basher?

I already know people have thermal issues with the stock Vanguard setup, so I know I will have to get something bigger...But how big is to big before I just start destroying things all the time.

Thanks for any advice...

Sensored is not required for bashing.

If you're on a budget. Get a hobbywing 80 or 120A sensorless esc and run whatever you want for a motor up to 4 or 6s lipo

Budget isn't really an issue. I have been looking at the hobbywing Esc, just nobody local has one. The place I am getting my kit from has a lot of esc/motor options. Mainly Tekin, Castle, Viper, and Reedy motors.

I have been looking at the castle Sidewinder 8th, but haven't seen anybody run a 2200kv motor in the Yeti. I know they are stock in the the Yeti XL, but thats a bigger/heavier rig.

I've been running a viper vst 4.5xl motor and a vtx8 esc and it does pretty good at slow speeds. Also it goes way to fast for the stock yeti.

I was looking at the Viper stuff...but out of stock where I am going this weekend. lol.

I have been looking at a lot things, I may just bite the bullet and go with the MMP and Pro4hd. But I see alot of people are using the 3000kv and only the 3500kv is in stock where I go. Not sure how much of a difference that makes.

Sucks I would have to take things apart too to waterproof everything.

It's been a long time since I ran my yeti as I tore it down to upgrade my bomber... But I know the spur was a 68 and I'm guessing the pinion was a 15. Stock gears in the diffs.
