| can the wraith be made into a crawler?
Hey guys so I was gonna search to see if this had been asked or not but my phone won't let me for some reason. So I was debating between the scx10 deadbolt and honcho but came across a used wraith that supposedly has hardly been used and it looks clean for $225. that's a good deal right? And if I got it can I simply change out motor and make it a slow speed crawler and then obviously upgrade from there?? I also found a used ax10 ridge for 280 with about $300 in mods. if I decided on it instead can I do the same with it to make it slow too? Thanks

Sounds like they are both good deals, just remember you're buying used. Plan on problems with a used vehicle, so you won't be let down when they rear their ugly head. Heck, there's problems with new trucks.

I have a wraith and I love it. I think you can definetly put a slower motor on it get get what you want from it and be happy with it. Also I would be scared of buying used I have sold many used item that were next to new just dint want them anymore and I have also bought many used items and had good luck with them. I'd say get the wraith.

All of those will make good crawlers. When my friends and I crawl, all of those models are represented. If you're planning to do a lot of upgrades, why not buy one of the used rigs or the SCX10 Deadbolt. That way you can save a little money off the top. | |

If the wraith is as clean as you say, that's an ok deal. They do make a great crawler, that's how I have mine built. It's got a 21.5T sensored brushless system, I think it tops out under 5mph lol. You want to lower it a bit, easiest way is with shorter or limited shock travel. A strong steering servo, and sticky tires. Anything from R35 Ripsaws to Pitbull RB2's or most any of the X2SS RC4wd tires, I love the Baja Claws. |

Thanks for the replies guys!! Those are sick wheels on ur ride jus! with that all being said I'll make my decision in a day or two I'm just torn between the ridgecrest and the deadbolt. I found out today that wraith is a kit not rtr so I'm not doing it.

my first rig was a wraith, they make excellent crawlers after you do a few things to them, definitely lower your center of gravity, i put a holmes 35t, all vanquish aluminum upgrades, and she crawled great, makes me sad i got rid of it. the width of them can be a blessing and a curse on some trails but such can be said for trail rigs in real life too |

i have a wraith and a older ax10 as part of my collection both of them have quite a few mods. both crawl well but my ax10 scorpion out crawls my wraith hands down. the wider axles of the wraith hinder its performance (IMHO). they can help in some situations but in most cases if you have enough weight on the knuckles or in the wheels your fine anyways. i think my wraith looks a lot cooler when crawling than my ax0 though so its a trade off. i know you said your not getting the wraith but i thought i would also mention that the 27t axial motor that comes with them is known for burning up if you do any type of heavy crawling. after smoking 2 of the 27t motors in less than a week i went to the axial 55t added a bec and went to 3s. haven't had a problem since |
