winching is super fun, even when running with just your buddies... creative problem solving.

I do have an old tactic servo lying around... I'll try that out when I get home... Probably not enough torque though...

Again, as been said, it's a scale thing, you wouldn't understand until you experience it.

And once you do witness or participate in a "scale" rescue with winches and snatch blocks and all the other equipments, it takes the scale aspect to a whole new level even if it takes half an hour to unwedge a truck from a bind, bad spot, rollover or any other mishap!

I just plain love it!
I'm pickin up what your putin down... Imagine how long it would take to do the same rescue in full scale. I'd think the thought process and rigging is the same.

This was really fun, it was slick and very few rigs made it up this... Melons (my baby) made it up.
I then winched up the next guy.
Drove down around and parked in the bush there.
Then created a triangle with my snatch block/pull pal anchored onto the truck in the front and running down the rock to attach to the rig below.
We winched up like 7 trucks like this...
Each truck that was just winched up took the anchor spot to help the next in line up.
Really fun!

I think I'm just going to start slow and buy a scale shovel. Maybe after I spend half a day digging my toy out I can see the importance of a winch.

I think I'm going to actually start using my wenches now!

I have them for scale point's but never use them for anything else. I'm getting more and more into scale.

Never leaving comp tho!

Anyone have any recommendations for a good winch? Something that'll look nice and scale, and none of the Integy crap... I was thinking TZI or RC4WD Warn. Thought about a servo winch but damn they're expensive.... keep in mind, I am 16 with a limited income, nothing too crazy. I'd say most I would spend is somewhere around $40 for a winch and I'll work out a controller on my own....

As for the OP- Didn't mean to post-jack, just looking for help

Jeez this thread really went, now I want a winch on my Wraith I used to have an old school 8k Warn on a 78 Ford and I got me and some other folks out of some tight spots, not to mention moving big ass rocks to get into logging roads that had been blocked. Take that BLM LoL

you are not getting a tzi for 40 bucks, the rc4wd winches are the same basic thing as integy or 3racing...

servo winch is by far the best bang per buck option. 645 hitec (or whatever) with a winch controller.

yeah, you don't need to buy a servo winch. You just buy a controller (or make one), a spool (or make one) and an old servo.

• Winch: -2 front, -2 rear (max -4)

I think he's screwing with us...
If not, a servo winch and a "scale" winch are worth the same -2 points.
