Ok I used the search feature and all I coudl find was people SAYING they used JB weld to lock the pede trans. Well please forgive me but what exactally did you guys JB weld? Or did you just pack the dif in the trans with JB weld? I have the trans apart sitting on my bench with the dif out and apart. Is there a less perm way of locking it then packing it with JB?

you can use silly putty or hot glue too, but jb weld is the best. you fill the diff so that all the sun gears are covered then reassemble and let cure

How well does the hot glue work? I can JB it but thinking it might be almost impossible to unlock it if I need to in the future for some reason.

I hot glued mine. Fill the center diff as full as possible, then reassemble. You can remove the glue if you need to, but its a pita though. My first attempt at the hot glue didn't hold, I didn't have a high temp glue gun. I cleaned out all the glue and redone it with a high temp glue gun and it has been holding fine ever since.

If you buy everything needed for another diff, you only need 2 parts packages that total $9. The main diff gear/diff housing with screws is only $3 and the sun/planet gear pack that includes alignment pins is only $6 and the two combined is everything you need to build a complete diff. With that in mind, I would suggest just going ahead and locking it with JB. It will hold the best, do the best job of locking it and it's only $9 worth of parts to replace it if you want to unlock it...

Well I am going with the Hotglue. I have plenty of that around since my wife is into crafts and it will be easier to unlock in the future. Thanks for all the help. I am off to town today and hope hobbytown has some links and drive shafts to use on my TLT based crawler using this trans.

Any "EPOXY" is the way to go. its easier fill 1/2 with resin and 1/2 with hardner and screw it together, put one of the out-put shafts in a drill and and spin it bfor 30 sec and you are done, no need to premix and then pour it in. Silly putty can brake-down over time.

If you search there are mechanical ways of locking it, but hot glue seems to hold and its easly removed if desired
