Chassis selection???
 

I am building a Clod crawler for the first time. I really like the RC4WD Rockbull chassis for its performance and its bling factor. What other options do I have for a chassis that not only looks good, but performs well too. I have not tried the rockbull, but have read that is does indeed perform well. Any reccomendations would be appreciated, as well as links to sites that sell them.

There are a ton of them out there. I have been thinking of making my next build a pimp cane. It looks super capable and it is a low cost build.

If a traditional 4 link is what your looking for, the Reign Ind. J2-TT is an excellent choice.

I have a rock bull 2 and haven't been that impressed. I think I will sell it soon to get a j2-tt. Besides, its way cheaper and my j2-tt tlt doesn't get hung up on everything like my rockbull does because it doesn't have a ton of holes on the bottom plate for everything to get stuck in.

theres a couple guys out here runnin BENDERS SW2 so many options with placement i dont think you can go wrong."thumbsup" shouldnt need a link hes every where on here!

Im a big fan of stick chassi's. Here in oregon, all the guys with 4-linked chassi's cant seem to keep up with the stick clods.

If you are going to go with a stick, you might as well try the pimp cane. I don't have one but I be damned if Leroy doest climb like a mother ******!!

I just got email from JunFac, the featherlite has been discontinued. Bad news for me.

I'm new to Rock Crawling and did a bunch of research on chassis selection over the past two months. I ended up going with the NN but it was tough. My top three for my first crawler were:


1. NN Chassis
2. Stick
3. Gecko II 60/40


I really liked the look of the Gecko but I didn't feel it had the adjustability. I will probably end up building one at some point!

The stick seems to be the way to go if you are going to compete but I like he true four link setup of the NN or the Gecko

The biggest seller for me on the NN was the adjustability of the links and the carbon fiber option. Based on all the competition results it definetly seems to do well crawling with a good setup and a good driver.

There are a ton of custom chassis out there that require a lot of imagination. I figured I'd start with a kit first like the ones listed above and learn from my inevitable mistakes!

Think about multiple mount positions. The more ways you have to set up your links for different situations and later on for different parts you try, the better off you are. Rockbull, SW2 and a couple others are this way. The advantages of this are great vs. being stuck with only a couple mounting spots as in the K2 or N.N. Geckos are good but its all in what you want to do. If you want to comp, youd better be adjustable or have alot of hours logged in for a "fixed" chassis setup. -Dan
