Awesome rig, and a small correction. The Swamper XLs are great tires but are listed at 4.75" (not 4.6). I judged C2 at ECSC a few weeks ago, and the rigs that ran the XLs did great on the course I was judging (same could not be said for people running Mad Beasts or 1.9 Growlers).

My .02 on jeeprc's original question: build a true 1.9 scaler (e.g., SCX-10 or Ascender) next so that you can experience the differences between one of those and a 2.2 rig. You may find that you like the variety, and you may even decide you like the challenge of the true 1.9s or, heaven forbid, a leaf-sprung 1.55, better than the all-out capability of a 2.2 (that's been my journey). Or you may decide that you want to stick with ultra-capable 2.2s. But the only way to know is to try it.

Good luck!

Is this a very stupid question, or a brilliant question…? Everybody talks about 1.9 or 2.2, isn’t that just the diameter of the wheels/i.d. of tire?(If I run a 2.2 wheel on a 1.9 tire, what is that classified as?

Point being, isn’t class 1 “street legal?” Class 2 “modified off road, NOT necessarily street legal…! Class 3 “KOH custom type build?”

Shouldn’t they make the classifications for the classes actually things they’ve posted in the classifications already?

Meaning… Class 1 for street legal, obviously should be 1000% scale! However, class 2 should have more flexibility, well… Because it’s not necessarily street legal [tires sticking too far out, wheel base not “stock” (i.e. class 1), “Slightly“ larger tires...Y’all get it!]

And honestly, IMHO, class 3 should be “run what y’all brung!” (Within reason obviously, to keep it as scale as a true “Unlimited class“) here are a few pictures of my rigs c1, c2 and c3

Obviously not a 1/10 rig! But something I would drive to work every day!

Obviously something I would drive to work every day! But unfortunately it’s not street legal…

So this is just my opinion… But I wonder... who are the people are who came up with these stringent rules that don’t mesh with 1:1....? No evil responses! Really want to learn.
