| New to crawling. What truck would you recommend?
I'm new to crawling. I got into the hobby with an associated sc10. Now I'm looking to expand to something new. What crawler would you recommend? Roughly a $500 initial limit. Sent from my VK700 using Tapatalk |

Welcome to the forum! Lots of good info here! What do you want to do with your crawler? Are you mainly looking at competitions? Or are you more interested in the scale side of things. How much time do you want to put into a build? That can have a lot of influence on what you start with for a base. |

Scx10 is the my personal preference for scale crawling. They perform great, and have a great aftermarket following.

Lol I've got an sc track in my back yard and just demo'd some concrete so I made a crawler portion. No comp other than just between me and some friends. I like the scale look and really have no time constraints. Sent from my VK700 using Tapatalk |

Hard to go wrong with either the SCX-10 or Wraith if you like scalers. I got my SCX-10 years ago and just built my first Wraith. I really love the Wraith. The Vaterra Ascender looks neat as well. |

Vaterra ascender. Look on YouTube and these forums. It beats the axial scx10 stock for stock in many ways. I love mine and it's box stock still.

I was told the same thing...it was a toss up between the Vaterra and Axial....I went with Axial...I've wanted a wraith for a couple yrs now, so that was my choice.

I went with the Wraith because I wanted to do some scale crawling stuff but also have a decent basher/speed truck. I think if it was between the SCX10 RTR and Vaterra Ascender RTR though I'd choose the Ascender just because it has so many more upgrades stock. I had a chance to mess with an Ascender at the hobby shop and I loved it. Plus, the K5 Blazer body is pretty badass looking. |

Vaterra Ascender or Axial SCX10, I have both and like them for different reasons. Ascender comes with all kinds of included parts that would cost at least $100 extra if you want to build the Axial to the same level...CVDs, shocks that don't leak, metal upper and lower suspension links, CMS, much stronger (and adjustable length) frame, shock towers that don't break, steel transmission gears, hardened steel ring and pinion gears, ability to add second gear to the transmission. Read, check them out at LHS if you can, ask some questions and buy the one that you like best.

I think it really comes down to what you intend for it. I love my Wraith and as a "scale", I.e. Built by pros for comps, crawler I love it. It makes crawling almost too easy. I find myself having to push it on routes that are impossible in real life. My next challenge will be in the built by a backyard mechanic/street legal crawler arena. Personally I love the street legal scale look and after driving my buddies Deadbolt I welcome the challenge of the less capable truck. It's amazing what a skilled driver can do with an SCX. |
