Default Motor pinion for axial scx10

Hi,

That pinions scx10 normally used for?
How many teeth?
the leading factory think are AX30724
Pinion Gear 32P 13T - Steel (3mm Motor Shaft)

I use the original mechanics of the SCX-10 engine with an axial 27t, but I want to know that pinions recomended? or which is the range of gears that can be used

Thanks!

Hey are you trying to get more torque/less speed or less torque/more speed?

Smaller Spur/Bigger Pinion= more speed/less torque
Bigger Spur/Smaller Pinion= more torque/less speed

what you could do is get a pinion gear set and just play around with the gears till to find one you like. Another option is just getting a couple pinions 1 higher tooth and 1 lower tooth and test. After you make changes you should periodically check the motor and esc for overheating.

Hope this helps

Axial's gear ratio is normal too high, IMO..
Try keeping it 5:1 or lower..

Your pinion size will depend on the spur size.
I run a 56t 32p spur on all my shaft driven rigs.
Which puts me at a 11t pinion for a 5.09:1 ratio.. 56/10 is 5.6:1 and a 56/12 is a 4.66:1 ratio..

Just divide your spur tooth count by your pinion size.

The lower your ratio, the more torque and less speed you have, but your motor will be happier and last longer.

Gear down, volt up!

Perfect, thank you very much for your explanations.
For now I do not want any more torque nor more speed, he asked for
I know because I have different gears in my house, so I'll try different combinations of gear ratios.

More or less the explanations you have given me I knew but was not sure what I have now and clearer.

Finally a factor that must always keep in mind is to control the work of the electric motor, for working comfortably with the ratio.

there is more to consider when you change the transmission ratio?
