This piece here, notice it's shaped like a "C". In the 1:1 world it's called an "inner C", how it got the "C hub" designation in the RC world is beyond me.

Never heard of the c-hub being called an "inner c" in the 1:1 world or anywhere else, just hub or c-hub when appropriate. It got its RC designation from the C shape and because it's a hub (sort of) that attaches to the axle. In the 1:1 world these are generally part of the front/steering axle housing, not a separate component like the one above. So c-hub really doesn't come up much in the 1:1 world. Same with the "lockout" on the rear RC axle, not something you see on a lot of 1:1 rear axles.

A "chub" is a common name for several freshwater fish.

In the US at least, inner C seems to be the common nomenclature. Lockout is another oddly named part, it's really more of a bearing housing/retainer.

In the 1:1 this is a lockout, also commonly referred to as a locking hub.

Perfect. I know what they do but could not sort why it was called that. Thanks for the pix.
