Do i want a Yeti or Bomber

so ive got a nice scx10 but im looking to buy either a bomber or yeti for just trashing around my property. I've got about 5 acres of all kinds of hills and I want something to just blast around. No technical crawling just something to run wild. Will probably just go rtr with either and upgrade as I break stuff or if I get the inevitable bug. Im sure it has been discussed but im not finding anything

Assuming no significant modifications to the vehicles from their RTR state:

Significant crawling, low speed, and limited jumping = Bomber

Limited crawling, moderate speed, and moderate jumping = Yeti

No crawling, high speed, and lots of jumping = 1/8 buggy, monster truck, or SC truck

sounds like you're looking for a stadium truck, 4x4 short course truck or 1/8 buggy

X2, I'd stay with something 4x4 as two wheel drive is not as fun bashing on loose dirt and rocks, jumps are much easier to line up and carry enough speed with 4x4.

I agree that how fast you want to go will determine what truck you want, but if you go RTR on an Axial then be prepared to spend on parts. If I had to do it i'd pick up a Slash 4x4 platinum, toss on PL Badlands, and then run it on 3S till the stock driveshafts broke. It's super capable capable off-road with only the Badlands added, assuming you're not gonna be crawling.

Traxxas is for bashing.
I'd say either a Slash 4x4 with larger tires/wheels (I'm running 2.2 Pitbull's on mine for grass covered hills bashing)
Or a Stamped 4x4, Summit or EMax.

I appreciate all the input. Begging to think I really should be looking at traxxas. Kind of a tough pill to swallow coming from the buggy and sct racing world not so long ago.

The Yeti will handle higher speeds on rough terrain better with IFS vs the solid axle front end on the Bomber. The Bomber will be better at low speed crawling. I'd go with a Yeti kit over RTR so you can install a nice sensored system from Holmes or Tekin.

If money isnt an issue, bomber with dmg ifs and sensored brushless setup. Bash it, jump it then if you find a spot to crawl, it will do it as well.

I have both. For your intended description you want a Yeti. Especially with RTR, the Yeti will be ready to go. The Bomber will need at least a new brushless motor and ESC to do what you want it to do but will not handle that speed well without many other mods as well.

Thanks again for all the input. Pulled the trigger on a used yeti kit. Now just have to get thru the waiting on usps game.
