I am so new to the hobby I haven't done anything extreme...lol I only have a Team Associated SC28 short course truck and while it's fun for indoors mostly I want to into crawling and more off road stuff. I am near retirement age and want something that will keep me active outside. Last edited by rawk crawler; 05-03-2017 at 04:46 AM. |

I sold a bit of guitar equipment that I very much liked to help fund my and my sons trucks. It was a common bonding thing and to get us out in the fresh air. Not exactly extreme but I had to wave goodbye to some nice gear. Don't regret it for a second though.

I thought he was crazy when a friend of mine sold his motorcycle to buy another 1/5 scale car... now I'm kicking around doing something similar. I got back into this hobby due to an injury (not motorcycle related) that is still keeping me off of my motorcycles nearly 2 years later. My boys still ride, but they're not getting any younger, and maybe I don't need 3 bikes sitting around for myself for when I might get back to them. That money could go back into a hobby that we all participate in. I am enjoying rc's much more this time around, but selling one of my bikes would still be a hard pill to swallow at this point. |

I've been trying to quit smoking to have more funds available, but that would have plenty of other good side effects!

I buy built rigs, keep the goodies to build my own person rigs, and sell the left over stuff.

Seven and a half years ago, I was a professional drinker. Gave up the bottle cause of DUI #3, and in MN # 4 would make me a felon, so both the judge and I decided that I quit drinking. -Absolutely glad I did! Nothing wrong with alcohol, I have a blast on it, just made stupid decisions while drinking. Because of my addictive personality I was able to substitute R/C'ing to get me through the first couple of years. Flying planes and helo's ( drones hadn't gone flat brim hat stupid hot yet)and when it was either windy or raining, still needed my fix, so I found bashing. Quickly gathered a small fleet of everything Traxxas, then discovered RACING! Built a fleet of off road racers ( dirt fleet and astro fleet) and on road racers as well (VTA and 1/12). Finally I got the crawling bug and lemme tell ya- it bites hard! No matter how fast and close the white knuckle, full pucker racing action gets, something about the calm excitement of trailing and crawling that just soooothes! No matter how much $$$$$ was wasted drinking, I never regret spending 1 single penny on anything R/C, as it'll still be there when I regain consciousness and lasts waaayyy longer than my whiskey drinks ever did! |

I drag a rig with me almost everywhere I go and often that's on a 5+ hour plane ride. In June we're going on a 7,700 mile round trip HI>CA>AZ>OR>CA>HI. Good times!

I've been trying to sell a bit of my liver or one of my kidneys to finance my next build, but so far there's no takers.

I have been slowly selling off my other toys, quad, ratrod with 40 year's of documented history, 65 thunder bird that was in my family for 50 years. It was time to part with them anyhow and not all the money went to rc's and I still have a lot of other toys. I don't regret it at all! I have been into this hobby for longer than I have been driving and I love doing it with my kids now too.

I've been ignoring my wife and kid. That could get pretty extreme.

I got my two sons hooked in to RC so I can blame my 'toy' addiction on them.

Took a day off of work so I could rebuild the front end of my rig after getting some parts in. Just couldn't wait.

I thought I was OCD. My wife thinks i am crazy for making an excel spreadsheet for builds (whether fantasy, future, or actual) but i am pretty sure you took it a step further. I am totally cool with that amount of organization. | |

| Re: What extreme things have you done to support your RC hobby? In all fairness, I made those mostly to share with the RCC community. I do have a sheet though that I use to track every single part and order. It comes in handy when I want to recommend something I bought or get another one. But I don't track costs anywhere, ever!
