| General HELP ME please.
All new to me but I bought a cheap crawler off ebay for my young fella but somethings gone wrong and I don't have a clue. Plugged battery in turned remote on turned car on and it worked for about 30seconds. It stopped so I figured battery pack must need a charge turned the car off put the battery on charge. When I plugged it back in something made a electronic cracked/pop sound. Now it doesn't work only makes a beep noise when you flick power switch on the car. I googled a few things but it's a bit over my head but I think the ESC may have shit it self. What have I done wrong and how do I fix it..... I'm gonna get another ESC but will it do it again? Please any help would be great. Cheers Last edited by THX_138; 10-21-2017 at 08:35 AM. |

I'm guessing that with the ESC's case off, it shorted out on the metal frame. A new ESC should solve it unless it shorted the receiver (rx) as well. Another thing that sometimes can happen is plugging into the rx backwards, which can also kill things. I'm assuming that lipo battery is 2s and the ESC supports 2s lipo and includes auto battery cutoff, otherwise that could be an issue as well. |

As I said no idea. No idea what the battery's are. I bought it real cheap cos my young fella (7) got a $20 kmart cheapie (from Nan) and was so excited but it doesn't steer real good 30ft turning circle. I bought it from a bloke who said it worked fine just needed batteries. I paid $50 for it delivered to my door but it had no battery's at all so when I messaged him he said he'd sell me 2 batterys and a charger to suit it for another $50 I just assumed that the battery's would be right? Ones 7.4v 5200mah has 2 big wires and 3 little ones The other is 11.1v 5000? 2big 4small Thanks again for the help Wasn't new... It's like $400 new. Was just trying to get something half decent for my young fella Last edited by THX_138; 10-21-2017 at 08:38 AM. | |

That 11.1 volt battery probably killed the ESC, with is likely rated for 7.4 volts max. Also, the crawler looks to be a clone of an Axial XR10, which run about $150 new on eBay with battery and charger. If it was me, I'd request a refund on all of it through eBay since the seller sent you an over-voltaged battery that killed the ESC. BTW most crawlers have a horrible turn radius, even the nice ones. If you want better turn radius you could get a Redcat Everest 1/10th scale on eBay; it's got 4WS (4 wheel steering). |

I'm in Australia these are called a hsp rock crawler has 4 wheel steer. There around $300 2 wheel steer and $400 for the 4wheel steer. The $20 cheapy he was given isn't even good at going in a straight line as it runs on 6 AA batterys and kills them in less than 2mins... I'll get a new esc and stick to the 7.4v battery. Fingers crossed it works. Thanks again Sent from my E6853 using Tapatalk |

FYI, most ESC's only have wires to power 1 motor; you'll need an esc to run both motors, or else rewire your new ESC. Keep your old ESC to steal the motor wires from. ;)

PS the WP1060 and WP1080 are both good cheap ($20/$45) ESC's, but you'd need to rewire them.

Hobbywing also has a dual brushed quickrun version: QuicRun WP 860 Dual Brushed_Car Systems_HOBBYWING | Welcome to Brushless System Trends - as you have a dual motor setup i would go with this one |

I know this maybe obvious but be sure to plug the battery leads in correctly. Even if the opposites touch briefly it’s likely to short the esc. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Take it to a local hobby shop that sells RC cars, they can give you a run down on what you are working with.
