| ECX Temper, Redcat E10 or OTHER??
Greetings from frozen Mongolia crawler fans, On Christmas, I will open my 1st crawler, an ECX Barrage V2 kit. My 7 y/o boy will need a crawler to come along on trails, but also to use indoors when it's not nice to be outside here (-30 and all that). He will get the RGT 1/24 Adventurer for Christmas, but that will not do for trailing along with me and my 1/12 Barrage. Anyway, he mentioned he likes the ECX Temper, but I thought for the same money, a Redcat Everest 10 might be a more capable crawler. The Temper has the advantage of being smaller, and therefore better for using indoors, but I am undecided as of yet. I'd love to hear your thoughts and rationale for what you might get for him. If you think another option, besides these two kits, might be better, I'd appreciate your opinion on that as well. Thanks, MP |

Thanks StomperCrawler, I like the RGT crawlers, and it's very similar to the Barrage, which would be good. I'm not sure if he'd like it though since he expressed interest in the ECX Tamper. Scale looks do not seem to be all that important to him. |

I wouldn't get him the temper. It is smaller and will likely have a difficult time keeping up with the Barrage for trailing and will just be frustrating for him (and he already has a small scale crawler for indoor use). The Everest 10 will be far more capable and you can always change the body if he doesn't like it.

I think the Temper and Barrage share a lot of parts so I would get the Temper. Youtuber 2KRCBACKROADS has a lot of good info about both the Temper and Barrage: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC9O...HEA0PDVEQJw3fQ |

Sale or no sale, I'd go for the Gen7. I much prefer it's scaler platform to the E10, and I prefer both of those to the Barrage. The Barrage and the Gen7 were both on my short list, and I went for the Gen7 because the Barrage is essentially an oversized 1/18 truck instead of a small 1/10 truck. I wanted full size hardware and electronics, and I got those with the Gen7. For me it's just a much better truck for the same money as the Barrage, and I say this as an ECX fanboy.

Thank you guys. I like the gen 7 too, although I'm not too keen on the body, and it is too big to play with inside, I think. I'll have a closer look and see what the boy thinks.
