Default Gmade gom build motor died

Hey guys i bought a lot made gmade gom off a guy close by who didn't have money to finish. I put an esc, receiver. Everything else was ready to go. It's a sweet build he put alot of wraith parts cuz they are aluminium and proline shocks I was excited and after 5 min of running motor smoked and died. It still has power to everything but the motor. Any suggestions?? I'm new to this so anything helps. Thanks for ur time

Put a new motor in but check the gearing as well to ensure its suitable.
Whilst the motor is out also turn the truck upside down and see if there's much resistance when turning the wheels. This should rule out other areas that could cause the motor to work harder than you'd want.

The GOM can be a pig with alignment sometimes if you have a 550 in there. Is it a 540 or a 550...my 550 didnt fit great as I didnt dremel out some plastic. Sounds like the pinion could have been too tight for the spur. Did he build the gearbox correctly...I assume you can work through 2nd 1st and DIG.

I only could get one gear to work when I had it going. Where should I start?

Take it apart...then check servo movement and look at your end points. Do you have a 3 position 3rd channel switch?

When you do strip it, put a washer in as a spacer to allow the slider to move freely...this will help with changes. Also the dig spring may need setting up. Have a look in the gmade section here...there is a long thread on the GOM.
