Default Canadia

Hey, I'm Mike from Canadia (AKA: Canada, AKA: The Great White North, eh?). I've been following this forum off and on since early '04, but for some reason only joined just now. Does that make me a newbie still? I've currently got a VMG that I have been crawling in basically stock form since '04 (I guess crawling might not be quite the right term - never did do the full geardown mod). Little stretch here, little servo relocation there, re-do the weight distribution, break, fix, etc.
I've got a bunch of other small-scale rides (easier to hide them from the wife!), but am seriously jonesing for a proper crawler! I set up a nice little rock course in the backyard a couple years back, fried my Fireball good on that one!
Before anyone asks:
1)Hodaka is a brand of motorcycle from the 60's/70's. Google is your friend.
2)No, I don't say "aboot"
3)No, I don't live in an igloo, and yes, I do get a tan in the summer
4)Yes, I do say "eh"

hey, the name's Jeremy...

Not a noob to rc in general by any means (have a T-Maxx, rc10gt, and duratrax Evader), but I am new to crawling.

I've been reading on and off for a little while though but this is my formal start on this site.

Hey their, My real name is René, I'm french canadian living near Québec city. Been into R/C a long time ago and returning this year. Tried racing and hate it because of the people managing the races... Now I'm trying myself at crawling since that's what bring me back to the hobby anyway (got racing since nobody crawl around here). Just order an Axial scorpion, can wait for it to come by...

That's about it, René

Hello All,

To quote Hugh Gallagher:

I am a dynamic figure, often seen scaling walls and crushing ice. I
have been known to remodel train stations on my lunch breaks, making
them more efficient in the area of heat retention. I translate ethnic
slurs for Cuban refugees, I write award-winning operas, I manage time
efficiently. Occasionally, I tread water for three days in a row.

I woo women with my sensuous and godlike trombone playing, I can
pilot bicycles up severe inclines with unflagging speed, and I cook
Thirty-Minute Brownies in twenty minutes. I am an expert in stucco, a
veteran in love, and an outlaw in Peru.

Using only a hoe and a large glass of water, I once single-handedly
defended a small village in the Amazon Basin from a horde of
ferocious army ants. I play bluegrass cello, I was scouted by the
Mets, I am the subject of numerous documentaries. When I'm bored, I
build large suspension bridges in my yard. I enjoy urban hang
gliding. On Wednesdays, after school, I repair electrical appliances
free of charge.

I am an abstract artist, a concrete analyst, and a ruthless bookie.
Critics worldwide swoon over my original line of corduroy evening
wear. I don't perspire. I am a private citizen, yet I receive fan
mail. I have been caller number nine and have won the weekend passes.
Last summer I toured New Jersey with a traveling centrifugal-force
demonstration. I bat .400. My deft floral arrangements have earned me
fame in international botany circles. Children trust me.

I can hurl tennis rackets at small moving objects with deadly
accuracy. I once read Paradise Lost, Moby Dick, and David Copperfield
in one day and still had time to refurbish an entire dining room that
evening. I know the exact location of every food item in the
supermarket. I have performed several covert operations for the CIA.
I sleep once a week; when I do sleep, I sleep in a chair. While on
vacation in Canada, I successfully negotiated with a group of
terrorists who had seized a small bakery. The laws of
physics do not apply to me.

I balance, I weave, I dodge, I frolic, and my bills are all paid. On
weekends,to let off steam, I participate in full-contact origami.
Years ago I discovered the meaning of life but forgot to write it
down. I have made extraordinary four course meals using only a mouli
and a toaster oven. I breed prizewinning clams. I have won bullfights
in San Juan, cliff-diving competitions in Sri Lanka, and spelling
bees at the Kremlin. I have played Hamlet, I have performed
open-heart surgery, and I have spoken with Elvis.

But I have not yet gone to college....

or built a Rock Crawler.

I will apologize in advance for the following. The high probability that I will post moronic questions without practicing “safe searching” of the aforementioned threads due to the likelihood that I may be surfing while under the influence. That being said, please note that I will commit to the following guarantee. I will not post any self gratuitous photographs of my comp rig on the furniture in risqué poses…I have my limits.

Regards,

John (building a Bender based AX10)

Mike, brand spanking new to crawling.

I've been in r/c for 11 years which is, well, half my life actually. I've only messed with speed r/cs so far. I have a Hyper 7 Pro-R with a Sirio .27, a Lightning RR1 with Savage suspension (no stranger to fabrication ), a very modified T-Maxx gen 1, a TA03 rally, a TB02 soon to be drifter, a restored BL Lazer ZX-R, a Micro-T... and some other stuff I can't remember. I'll be getting a Wheely King in April ,or sometime before September anw.

My first crawling experience was with a Robbe Land Rover Discovery (rare thing that) which I traded away for several times what I paid for it. It was absolutely useless but a whole lot of fun, so I'm expecting the WK to be even more fun! A friend and I have actually made a bet on who will make the best crawler out of a WK and $300 including the kit. It's in the bag cause I've found rcc and he hasn't

Default Father/Son driving Wheelie King in Seattle

Hello,

I'm a father with a 7-year old boy. I bought a Wheelie King two weeks ago because I wanted a truck that wasn't "too fast" to drive with my 7-year-old. Aside from a Micro-T, it's our first RC. Now we are falling in love with the idea of making the Wheelie King into a rock crawler. We live in the Seattle area and are looking for the best places to buy RCRC equipment and also the best places to drive on rocks.

Love the website!

Oops, I was lurking in the Scorpion forum until a few days ago and have been posting about then I saw this.

Augie
AX-10 Scorpion (after a month of reading and research here)
Bergen County, NJ

And a little added tidbit, I am a 1:1 Jeep person, needed to keep it "cheaper" than the Jeep......which is why I ended up with this. satisfies the need to go wheeling, but still lets me not break what gets me to work (when I have a job of course).
Tons of info everywhere here.....that is why I only have a few posts. The search feature is awesome if you know the terms that everyone calls something.

hello all, im mike. i have a t maxx and a sport maxx. i have been building, wheeling and crawling 1:1 scale trucks for a long time and rc crawling seemed like a nice alternative to the heavy lifting of huge cast iron t-cases. i plan on building a custom crawler using ax-10 axles and stuff. i know everyone builds them..... but there is a reason. im from hollister ca (home of the TOP TRUCK CHALLENGE) and i look forward to the build.
