The problem with differential skid-plates is that they hang lower than the differential housing would on its own. Plastic axle housings are cheap and are more slippery than any metal, so you will be less likely to hang up on obstacles without the skid-plates. Just run them until they wear out - you can even extend their life on certain models that are the same front and rear - just take them apart and use the front as the rear and vice-versa. Doubles their life expectancy! |

yea I would skip them. yes they will protect your axles from wearing out, but they will decrease your crawling ability.... axle housings are cheap and on their own, most people will never wear one out. If you crawl a lot you might, but again, they are cheap...

I agree - they are a waste. I bought a set the first time I laid down good cash for aluminum axles thinking it would save them from being scraped up. They hang up on EVERYTHING!

Yep... Plastic slides across rocks MUCH better than aluminum. |
