Default Online hobby stores / Where do you buy from?

Hello everyone. New to the forums. Been creeping around for a while but this is my first real post.

Where is everyone buying their parts and stuff from? What web sites? Since I was last into R/C, the game has changed a lot. In regards to the companies that where big. i know A-Main, Tower Hobbies, Stormer Hobbies, but curious if there are any ones i didnt know about. My local hobby shop is a Hobby Town USA and is more into the planes and models than they are R/C. They have some R/C but mostly Basher type stuff. Very little crawler/scaler stuff. A lot of Traxxas Slash and Stampede kind of stuff. Any input is appreciated.

RPP hobby is great. They have a lot of scale stuff, scale bodies, tire and rims of all sizes and 15% off sales almost every month. Also, fast shipping.

AsiaTees.com aka "ATees.com" is worth a look for some different products, lots of bodies and scale accessories and products not found elsewhere:

RPP for orders where I know I'm going to spend enough to get to the $150 free shipping threshold and Amain for pretty much everything else. Occasionally, I order from TCS Crawlers as well.

For stuff that I'm in a hurry for, I generally buy from mr-retro (Liquid RC) on eBay, because he's close enough to me that I get the stuff the next day.

Otherwise, for name brand stuff I use Omni Models on Ebay, Tower Hobbies or A Main.

For non name-brand stuff, it's Hobbyking, banggood and gearbest.

I use A-main and RPP for the majority of my orders. That being said, I'm going to be using RPP less in the future. Had to return some hardware recently and it was a pain... Had to print and fill out a return form. Plus there's an automatic 20% re-stocking fee unless you're going to use the refund for store credit. I also had to create an account in order to use the store credit. It's a shame because I otherwise like RRP for their quick shipping and selection of parts.

As stated, RPP is great for stock and fast shipping, but their standard shipping rates are expedited with no cheaper option so it can hurt. AMain drove me away with a return recently and didn't honor their statements so take that for what it's worth. Hobbytown usually has the same stock.

Tower has had some reorganizing issues but is coming back. They have an Illinois warehouse which would be good for you...most everywhere else is in California. I actually got a phone call and an email from my "personal Tower adviser" after ordering a kit asking if I was happy with the purchase and if I needed any help. I think they're serious about rejuvenating their customer base.

Other than what’s mentioned already I’ve also used RCMart.com for some parts from China.

I never jumped on the internet bandwagon back in the 90s. Still don't have any social media. But since my local hobby store closed down 8 months ago, I've been using eBay. I've probably ordered 15 items, 2 of which never made it. Both from China. Is this common or are some of these sellers more like scammers? Last one just offered 25 percent refund. I didn't accept, said 100 percent or ship another. You guys have this issue often?

The Crawl Space Online Store is up and running, pretty much all crawler/scaler related parts. Any questions you can call and we'll answer

I love eBay. It's my #1 go-to for online shopping.

I try to choose local sellers and if I have good experiences I reuse them. When ordering, especially from China, make sure the seller has feedback over 98%. I really haven't had any major issues like you have. If I can't work with the seller I immediately file a PayPal claim. I'd suggest you do that ASAP if they are only offering 25% refund. Ask for a full refund and remember never to deal with that seller again. And leave bad feedback so the rest of us know.

I have to admit, I really miss dragging out of the house, driving to stores, finding a place to park, wandering around the store trying to find what I'm looking for, trying to and finally finding someone who actually works there only to realize they don't even know what they sell or what I'm asking about, and finally discovering they either don't stock it or they're out and have no idea if or when they'll ever get more.

My most L LHS is the worst for all of the above. I usually wind up being "helped" by the owner's 10 year-old kid. Seriously?

Online every time. /rant

Goody, a new source! Bookmarked.

May want to fix that "Hardwear" section title on the front page.

You missed not having to deal with rude mother****ers, bratty kids with loser parents, etc.

Supreme Court's ruling just hurt internet sales. States can force tax on online sales. It was bound to happen.

I work with engineers, so I'm well used to rude mother****ers and bratty kids, but good point nonetheless.

Was bound to happen sooner or later. I'll pay tax to avoid all the rest!
