| Gettin back into it
So I was a newbie a few years ago when I picked up a half done AX10 scorpion in a hot racing chassis. It come with a 4 link rear 2 link lower and y link upper front Dig transmission (but missing servo) no electronics stock axles with 1.9 tires. Luckily for me my dad had a whole extra set of electronics and a servo for the steering. I just put some 2.2 china tires on stock AX10 beadlocks desert lizard 120mm front shocks has I think stock ax10 rear shocks and readjusted the links some. I still need a servo and IDK what else for the Dig to work, and would really like to run the batteries on the front axle. Also wanna switch to LiPo batteries. whats a good way to mount the batteries? What is a decent ESC that will handle lipo but wont break the bank? I was looking at a holms hobbies one that was a little over $100 what do I need to get the Dig to work besides a servo? all the electronics are stock AX-10 scorpion. What is a decent Lipo charger and batteries? all the articles I found on here were a few years old and tech moves too quick to go off of those. Sorry if this is long winded just tryin to get everything out there lol |

Many people like the $40 hobbywing 1080 esc. I have one, my one gripe is no throttle curve. It will handle Lipo. Thread: Budget waterproof servo options I use an IMAX B6mini clone to charge my batteries cause i like to see the graph on the pc. As far as mounting a battery, there is an AX10 subforum that I am sure will have options. |

Setting the stock axial transmitter to control a 3rd ch servo and its end points is beyond me.

I don't have an AX10 scorpion, but I've looked into battery placement for some other comp crawlers of the same style. You can mount the battery at least a few different ways to get the battery forward and fairly low. One way is to get a wider servo plate that positions the servo to one side and the battery to the other. You'll need to run a fairly small battery to fit there (I'd guess 850 mah 3S should fit, but you'll need to check the dimensions). Another way is to run two small saddle packs to either side of the servo. A third way is to make a battery tray that sits on the upper links. You can loosely zip tie it to the links to hold it in place. The advantage to this is you can use a little bit bigger battery and it is pretty easy to make something yourself that works. The disadvantage is the weight is not as far forward as it would be above the axle and is partially sprung. As stated above, you can look in the AX10 subforum for more ideas. |

ive been looking at the axle mounts and have found a few I like, the fun part is finding lipo packs that will fit. Ill be diving into the world of LIPO batteries so I don't have much experience with what size etc

Any change to move your battery lower and more forward should really improve your performance compared to your current setup.

That's what I was thinking. when I went to test my setup I put the stick pack on top the chassis and it would flop over if I looked at it funny lol. but I really wanna do a pack on the axle and weight the axle some too

Or make your own out of aluminum plate from LHS or hardware store, some spacers and longer screws. | |
