Default Short wheelbase kit options? CC01 body options.

What kits out of box are ready to go for a CC01 length hardbody or 10" wheelbase. Not looking to build custom but a ready to go kit.

MST CFX I have figured out but what others?

MST CFX/CMX, ECX Barrage (or the many clones), and the Tamiya CC01 are the out of the box options. STRC and Boom Racing used to make short wheelbase chassis kits to shrink a SCX10 down to those wheelbases but the axles are still quite wide for the Tamiya bodies.

The MST kits are the best of the bunch without getting into custom building.

Thank, CMX appears older model with motor in middle versus up front like CFX?

The CMX has the center mounted, 3 gear trans similar to a SCX10 and a front mounted battery tray while the CFX has the front mounted transmission with transfer case and a different battery mount. The CFX has metal gears and bearings in the trans while the CMX has plastic gears and bronze bushings. Other than that, they are like 80% the same (axles, chassis, shock towers, links, etc).

Yes, they include the links to run a 242, 252, or 267mm wheelbase.

There are pros and cons to both. They were released around the same time so they are about the same age.

To simplify it the CFX has more forward weight bias whereas the CMX has a lower center of gravity.

I would also go for the MST. Looks great and performce good. Even with 1.55 Dirt Grabber Tires

Here my Scalebro's Tamiya Pajero on the cmx.

Thanks for the help, I am planning a Wrangler YJ Jurassic Park Build and will go with the CFX. Looks like $220 is about as good as it gets from Taiwan.

RCMart has a combo of the CFX and a Hobbywing 1080 ESC for $250 with free shipping. That is a little better of a deal but $220 seems to be the average price.

Amain had unbelievable deals on the CFX trucks when they decided to stop selling them, I picked mine up for under $140 with a body.

1080 ESC seems to be a nice unit, that combo saves about $20 versus buying separately. I'm slowly selling off my race cars after a long and embarrassing racing career. Just now learning there was even a crawler specific esc. Who knew!

MST CFX on the way, used a one day EBAY coupon code and have it coming for $192 shipped from Taiwan. It will be a long term build with Tamiya Wrangler body cut up into a soft top Jurassic Park build I do believe, of course subject to change.

In the interim I have a new Gelande 1/10 RTR D90 to play with.

Thanks.

Make sure and put up a build thread in the MST sub-forum!

Will do. My build threads in other areas of RC are never at that level of some who seem to stop every 3 seconds to take a pic, mine are usually, here is the kit, here's my workbench and pile of parts, here's the final product. I should probably work on that!
