My husband and I were playing with our new Crawlers last night and at one point his stopped turning to the left. When we release the axels, the servo turns just fine. But when they are attached, it gives resistance and stops turning properly. When you turn it to the left there’s a clicking sound. Help! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Sounds like the servo gears are stripped, check for binding on the steering linkage, if there's no problem there, get a new servo. Sent from my SM-G960W using Tapatalk |

Forgive my lack of terminology, but the piece that connects to the servo and an axel, it’s a little plastic piece with the number 25 on it. We believe it was installed backwards from the manufacturer. Running it for almost a week with it backwards would cause this problem right? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

The black plastic piece with 25 on it sounds like the servo horn. It would be difficult to have it backwards, often times it will hit the frame and on the left side of the rig. This happened to mine and burned the servo out.

Thank you. Yes. We believe that was what was happening. Neither of us took anything apart before using it, so it either had to have come backwards from the manufacturer or it got pushed into the wrong position while in use last night. We are going to get a new servo this afternoon. Thank you for your response! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

The black plastic piece you are talking about is the servo horn. One side is splined and the other should be smooth. The splined side goes on the servo. You can look at the splines on the horn to see if they are stripped. Aluminum servo horns are always a good upgrade. Different servos have different numbers of splines and will require the proper horn. The most common is 25. If/when you do get a servo, also make sure it is centered before installing the horn. Install it in the truck without the horn, turn everything on, and let the servo center itself. Then install the horn. Make sure the end points on the radio are set properly. If they are not, it could burn up the servo. Also...If you do replace the servo, dont go back with a stock one. |

What’s a good brand of servo to purchase? I’d like to get one for my husband. We suspect you all are right about the gears in it and are going to replace it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I personally prefer ProModeler, both because they're high quality and because they're made in America. Sent from my SM-G960W using Tapatalk |

The major advantage to a Savox 1230SG is that is generates 500 oz/in @ 6v which is the same voltage as your trucks radio. Many of the other servos mentioned run at 7.4v which will require the addition of a BEC to power them at the rated torque. This listing includes an aluminum servo horn and free shipping. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Savox-SA-12...ss!22553!US!-1 Last edited by Inspector86; 09-10-2018 at 09:11 PM. |

Thank you all. After more inspection we believe the servo horn is stripped and it’s not the servo in question anymore. It torques fine without the horn. Your advice has helped us to figure out where we need to start. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

That said, you will get more exposure and more responses to your question if you start your own thread rather than hijack an older existing one. There are literally hundreds of threads recommending electronics. You need to spend time reading through the Electronics section to find recommendations. Also, you need to provide more information about what specifically you are looking for. Example, Brushed or Brush-less. Last edited by Inspector86; 03-22-2020 at 07:12 PM.
