Given that the 550 Titan is the equivalent of a 540 21 turn (ish), and the stock pinion is 11T, you should have smooth lower-speed torque for days, but your top speed will drop significantly.

what would also help with top speed then? I thought going that way would help with all the weight I added and large 2.2 tires. thx

Since you have the 2 speed, you'll probably have enough top speed in 2nd with that set up. If it's too slow go up to a 10t, but keep an eye on temps, the added weight and taller tires means more stress. You might not be too much slower with the 9t and 27t motor, since you at using larger tires. Box stock it's pretty fast for its intended use, in 2nd.

From what I understand the 9T pinion will give you 18% less top speed then stock 11T. The 27T Trailmaster sport will give you around 20% less top speed with 11T pinion. Both individually will give you more torque & less top speed. Both together would really drop your top speed and increase torque.

ok didn't really want to loose my top speed it's fun In my alley when muddy or after a crazy snowfall to just take a brake from crawling and go bash around.

any suggestions for a good set up then with bigger tires and added weight?

Where did you find it's a 20% difference from a 21t to a 27t? Both are 550s. Just curious, not disagreeing. I went from a 19t to a 27t in my son's 2wd stadium truck, couldn't tell any top speed difference. Did wheelie a little better. Might have been a touch slower, but not enough for me to see.

That's a direct quote from John homes. He said about a 20% difference in top speed between the 21t and 27t trailmaster sport in a trx-4 with 11t pinion

Spend $3.50 buy a 9t pinion and see what the difference actually is. Then decide on maybe changing motors later. IMO, I would keep the stock motor and switch to the HW1080 ESC. But to be honest, more information would help us zero in on exactly what it is you are trying to accomplish.

if you use 2s lipos you can gain more speed after the changes with a change to 3s.
In general 27t is slower as 21t, higher turns on brushed motors = less speed more torque.
Smaler pinion = less speed more torque.
So every time a tradeoff. Why not getting the 21t 550 trailmaster ? edit corrected motor

Instead of everyone flailing around with various answers, how about some more info. "A good setup" doesn't say much. Lots of good setups out there. What are you trying to accomplish? More top speed? More low end torque, same top speed? Longer runtime? Cooler motor?

Can better help point you in the right direction if we know what that direction is.

I just bought HW1080 ESC on thursday and savox 1230 servo, and a new battery charger SKYRC iMAX B6AC V2 to replace my traxxas one, and i bought 2 Ess Dual sound module. With the 15% ebay coupon, gotta love those!

I have been using 2s but just got a order in from Hobbyking and now have 3s. I have a ton of parts to add to my truck, im think ill just build it all see how it runs and then see if i even need to do anything.

I just like customizing it so much i was looking for an excuse to buy a new motor lol, plus keep reading so much good things from HH motors.

This is a nice set up, pricey but money well spent.

I run the 27t 550 and 9t pinion on 3s on mine and no shortage of top end for me. Of course, I am content with a 55t on 3s for my SCX10.2.
