Default Newbe looking to build a MOA Crawler,

I am fairly new to RC,, I have build a T Maxx Conversation which took me 8 months, I do a lot of work with kids and RC,, and adults in a assisted living home. I have a Rock Rey, and a Granite Mega 2 wd truck and the T maxx,

I would like to build a MOA Crawler,, I am disabled and I have a lot of time,

Not a lot of money, SO guidance on parts,, starting with a chassis and axles

the shocks and the arms that connect the parts,,

I have another T maxx to finish,, If anyone has ideas to make that cooler and more interesting, I am all ears,,

Thanks

Default Re: Newbe looking to build a MOA Crawler,

What do you plan on doing with the MOA? If you want to comp or just have a very capable crawler I would recommend 2, something different for either. A full blown comp rig could be upwards of 2000 including a good radio, even picking just the right parts. A very capable "OFF THE SHELF" rig could still be 700. The only true off the shelf rig out there is the Bully. I know there are others available from vendors on here but I would consider them a full comp rig not a RTR. To get a good idea of what each involves as far as upgrades look in the section for Bully, Berg, XR10, etc or search MOAs on here and check out the"Bible" section for each. I personally like the XR10 but it is now discontinued and hard but not impossible to get parts. The only parts from Axial (original Xr10) are the axles and the plastic axle housings. All the gears in the axles, chassis, links, electronics and tires are after market. So the ball is in your court to make a decision what do you really want. Feel free to PM me with questions. Although I am biased toward XR10s I will try to steer you right. I have been into RC for about 25 years and now do the slow road (crawling.) In the 3 years I have been doing comps I have learned a lot of what not to buy.
