Default Newb Question?

Hey Guys, I am new to Crawling and I just bought a Axial Honcho used. My question is can Traxxas XL5HV 3S ESC W/ Titan 21T 550 Reverse Rotation Motor TRX-4 iD Plug be used in this vehicle ? Dose axial motors work with Traxxas esc?
Thanks and any help will be great.

As long as the esc/motor used are the same ie brushed/brushed etc it should work. The only connection to the 2 are are power wires which will only be positive and negative.

Mounting to the transmission is the same between 540 and 550 sized motors, 550 motors are just a little longer. Depending on your configuration you may have to trim some plastic parts to clear the end of the motor.

the traxxassssss electronics rearly last long enuff to swap in to any rig
if there not already in there i would set them aside as spares or something and get something thats gona last more than a few batterys

my opinion aside once you step up to hobby grade rc cars the parts like motors and escs and servos become more universal so traxxass axial enduro redcat or any of the many brands that are out there can all use the same electronics wheels and bodys

parts like axles transmissions and gears are more spacific to the brand but that dosent mean that traxxass axles wont fit on a scx10 or vise versa or using a transmission and skid plate from one brand and a frame from another brand and axles from yet another brand

thats what makes a hobby grade rc
the abulity to make it what ever you want it to be using basicly universal hobby grade parts mixing and matching brands

The Traxxas ESC/motor will work but don't waste your time. Instead buy a HW1080 ESC $50 and Holmes Hobbies Crawlmaster Sport 10t motor $20.

+1. This is my first crawler electronic setup in my TRX4 except I went for the 12t motor. Until I get more wheel time I can honestly say this combination is more than adequate.

In earlier posts I talked about upgrades to this Honcho I have been working on. I am at the point where after stretching this chassis to 12.3 the driveshafts got loose and we’re replaced several times. Ordering has been a problem because the shafts don’t seem to fit right, any help in this area would be great. Thanks again guys 👍

you can mesure what you need and order the shafts that are that langth
most aftermarked driveshafts will fit

you should have the wb8 hd wild boar shafts on that rig stock so you would only need a parts kit to make the shafts longer i have one shaft thats almost a foot long running on 4s there great shafts for being plastic a complete shaft cost almost as much as a decent metal shaft though if you dont already have them on the rig
the parts kits are cheap if you already have the cv ends
