Default Store credit online

Ok, I’ve got $55 store credit with hobbytown. I’ve got a traxxas trx4 sport with the servo I want, the esc I want, wheels and tires, and tx and rx I want. Give me some ideas on upgrades and keep in mind Im looking for function not form. Thanks in advance.

And this is why I’m in the newb section. What’s od/ud gears? Or ud rear?

If you’ve already upgraded electronics and tires, you’ll find the biggest impact by lowering the cg. I’m partial to our battery tray to shift existing weight down before adding more weight in the form of brass parts. I also like running 80mm shocks on my TRX-4s for a similar reason. “thumbsup”

This. Two of the biggest difference makers IMO.

No need. The stock links are steel and they are strong.

I’m just now upgrading mine to the Samix high clearance links but literally the only reason is because it’s about time to change some rod ends. Figured I may as well do it all at once. Stock links are plenty tough and slidy, not expecting to notice too much more clearance with the Samix links but we’ll see.

They look nice, but, damn, they are expensive on the Samix website. Almost $68!

Samix stuff looks very nice though. I'll have to give them a shot on my TRX-4 Sport build when that kit is released.

I think that’s the price for the full link kit including the steering links. The suspension links on their own are $50, so still ain’t cheap.

Their brass parts I have on the rex have been holding up well and still have a good fit, at least quality seems to be there.

OD/UD is not a requirement and in fact is very dependent on what type of terrain you drive on. I am not a fan of UD/OD gearing as it creates a great deal of binding and accelerated wear in the entire drive train. Personally, I don't do a lot of climbing. Some claim it aids in extreme rock climbing but it will do nothing to aid you in trail driving. Bottom line is UD/OD gearing is an advanced tuning tool that has to be used with consideration to the driving style and terrain the rig will see. I would not recommend UD/OD for a general use rig.

I will mainly be trailing and a little climbing. Neither one competively, so I’ll prolly stAy away from OD/UD gears
