I've not had good luck with ProTec LIHV lipos, so kinda not a fan of their stuff.

Go straight to Hitec HS-7950TH, run them in all my 1/10 scale.

HS-7950TG would be my second choice, but not nearly as bullet proof.

I'm a huge proponent for quality servos and I never mess with servos under 500 oz as a rule. That said I have a cheap servo in my trx4 and it's been great. The stock electronics in the rig works great too.

I run 2.2's on it too and it is fine. Depending on situation or terrain it'll have short & fat pitbull xors or tall & skinny sling kings.

Listen to White trash just this once. The man beats on his rigs hard.

Cant go wrong with a rtr trx4. it can be made more capable than what it is with similar mods that Nova's ark did to the C.I.'s truck.

Also, check out the TRX4 section here.

Got it. Thanks for the heads up on the servo. I just had heard that the Proteks were good. Thanks for the correction! Any recommendations on a metal arm for that servo?

Color me shocked. You just OK'd RTR electronics! I would agree that the Traxxas stuff isn't bad to start.

Yeah I agree. I felt that the stock servo was weak with the stock ESC - no surprise there - so I installed the HobbyWing WP 1080 ESC and cranked up the internal BEC to 6.0V. More power really woke the servo up, but it also caused a gear to strip after only 1 or 2 trail runs.

The stock steering servo is barely good enough to be a shift servo. The stock bec keeps up with the cheap servo I posted fine. When the esc pukes I'll have an excuse to drop in an mmp with a 2700 kvnpuller on 4s. Until then it will live on with stock stuff.

Again, thanks for all the info guys. Any more servo recommendations other than the Hitec HS-7950TH?

If cost isn't much of a concern, I'd recommend looking at the Savox 2290SG or the Promodeler DS630.

There is a savox waterproof servo around $80 bucks. Has 400oz of torque or so at 7.4 volts.
