| Tighter turning for trx4 sport?
Is it possible to get tighter turns out of the sport? I watch hours of crawling comps on you tube and it almost looks like some of these guys have their wheels laid over 90 degrees in some turns. I know you prolly can’t get that out of sport, but just wondering if there were ways to get a lil more steering. Would it be extenders to give your wheels more room before they hit the portals? Just curious

Extended wheel hex's are not going to improve steering they will likely make it less powerful as it takes more force to turn an extended wheel (scrub radius). The degrees of steering you can get out of an axle is limited and no one is getting close to 90 degrees, its closer to 45. You could "un-sport-ify" your sport and add the front and rear lockable diffs which allow for much tighter turns when they are unlocked. I've always loved old educational videos like this one, it explains how a diff works and why they aid in turning. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yYAw79386WI |

Over drive the front axle, under drive the rear, add a selectable rear locker and add some weight on the front axle. Those things will make the 40ish degrees you have more efficient and effective. My comp rigs are good for 70* but they have clearanced universal type shafts not cvds like the trx4. I've thought about trying to adapt them but haven't had time to do it yet. |

Add selectible front and rear lockers and install ackerman steering knuckles. The truck will turn sharper without sliding tires all over the place.

I’ve got OD/UD gears and all the brass you can get on the front, so I’m guessing I’m getting all the steering there is to get with my current setup. New to all this. I was over exaggerating on the 90 degrees, but dang it sure looks like it in some of those videos!
