| Steering Servo install problem
Howdy, I’m a newbie with my first crawler and could use some help. I purchased a Power HD 25 kg steering servo to upgrade the stock on my SCX10 II Cherokee RTR. When I plug it into the same channel of the receiver and turn the radio to test it surges backwards and the it shuts the thing down and esc light starts blinking. I can’t figure out what I’m doing wrong. If turn it off and back on again and plug the stock servo back in it seems to function fine. I appreciate any help or insight I can get on this. Thanks This is a pic of the servo specs. |

I'm not sure if plugging in a servo backwards (the plug itself) would do something like this or not but you might make sure you have it oriented correct, (signal to signal ground to ground positive to positive). Its possible you just received a bad servo though. One test you could do is to plug the servo into the throttle channel and give it throttle and brake which should turn the servo one way and then the other. If it acts fine on the throttle channel it could be the receivers fault though I doubt that since you've tested your old servo and it works fine. I'm guessing its just a faulty servo. |

The powerhd servo uses the brown wire as the ground. Make sure u put the brown wire to the right side of the rx. I use the 20kg servos with no issues. If the old servo works fine, its not the rx. Sent from my SM-J327VPP using Tapatalk |

Well I tested it in the throttle channel and it didn’t work. The wires are all covered black except one with a white stripe on it. I plugged it into the receiver both ways and it didn’t work. I looked up what a BEC was and what it did and it does seem like that might be the problem. The guy at my local hobby shop I bought it from said it wouldn’t need one to work but it’s not working so I ordered one and will give it a shot. Fingers crossed. I’ll update my findings. |
