| Need advice about WLToys 12429
I was wanting to know if the WLToys 12429 and The 12428 had the same Chassis parts. I know the bodies are different but will stuff such as suspension parts, motor, esc, etc from the 12428 work on the 12429? Also I’m thinking about buying a 20t crawler motor would this be possible to add to this truck just plug and play it’s a 540 brushed Also would locking the rear diff be a good or bad idea? I’m new to RC Trucks, Buggy’s, as I have retired my drone hobby and find these trucks to be more fun. |

pics would help or a link to a pic of the rig you have wltoys makes alot of different kind of rigs from toy grade to just above toy grade some of there models are a direct clone of the vitara twin hammers and can be upgraded to a hobby grade but your basicly replacing everything at that point however you can upgrade as parts break depending on what model you have you could replace the motor but i dont know if the stock esc will handle the upgraded motor if it is the vitarra clone i would recamend replacing the esc and servo and reciver when you replace the motor also know that once you start down the upgrade road you have to go all the way once you upgrade the motor yiur gona break parts so be ready if you leave it stock it will likely hold up for a while i have the one that looks like the polaris razor on the vaterra clone chassie and i havent done squat to it but i only run it every now and again i just like the way it looks and its a fun little rig aslong as you dont exspect to much from it in my opinion if you find you realy enjoy the rig step up to a twin hammers or a crawler of some kind and keep that one around for freinds to break lol ive ran this rig side by side with vary exspensive rigs and it dose almost everything my scalers will do stock and would keep up better with just puting silly putty in the diffs Last edited by ferp420; 10-22-2019 at 01:11 PM. |

Yes, the 12429 is the same as the 12428 aside from the body. The JJRC Q46 is also the same. I do a detailed review of the JJRC in this video. It may answer some of your questions. <iframe width="640" height="360" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/c-IJIF1P95A" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe> Ugh! I see that youtube embed code doesn't work on the forum again. Anyway, here's a direct link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c-IJIF1P95A&t=12s Replacing the brushed motor with a different brushed motor should be OK at crawling speeds. If the new motor is faster than the stock motor, the ESC may complain if you do too many full speed blasts. As for crawlability, I'd say no. That body is ridiculously top heavy, and the wheelbase on that truck is pretty short, with very little belly clearance. The 10428 can be made into a decent crawler, but the 12428 is a lot smaller. Thanks for the useful information! Greatly appreciated, and I do agree it is very top heavy esp with the battery being up on the top in the rear.

My friend had the 1/12 clone and even after he bought just about every upgrade part available it was never reliable. Front axle shaft, driveshaft, and trans gears were all nonstop problem areas. I certainly wouldn't reccomend it. At least the 1/10 version will accept genuine twin hammer parts, although I'm not sure if you save anything in the long run once you've upgraded the friction shocks, the soft metal front diff outputs, the front axles, and a few other premature wear items. |
