Default New to RC:

Hello everyone,

Been building hot rods and old harleys for years and figured I'd get into something new.

I'm new to this hobby and just picked up a new Losi Rock Ray for my first vehicle.

Driving it for the first time today had a blast with it.

I do have a question though. I am running a Lectron Pro 3s 5200 mAh battery. It is a real tight fit in the battery compartment.

Is it normal for the fit to be so tight I need to push it out from the front with a wood dowel about half way to be able to get a grip with my fingers to fully extract it from the back?

There is a plastic spring plate that seems to be there to apply pressure to the battery so it is not loose. Is it normal to sometimes have to modify this spring plate?

Thanks in advance for your help.

NOTE: battery is new and charged properly. It is not bulging.

Welcome to RCC! I have found that there is a size standard of sorts but it seems to vary a small amount from manufacturer to manufacturer. Sounds like you just have a tighter fit than usual.

Welcome to RCC. You may want to modify that spring plate. Pushing a battery out repeatedly may cause a puncture in the case. It sounds way to tight to me. You now have three expensive hobbies .

For 3s running, the manual recomends removing the plate, and installing the smaller pinion, 10t iirc. The truck is a little on the weak side for running 3s out of the box.

A bit of others experience!

Hey Creeper you are correct I found the reference to the "2s" spring plate in the manual parts list. Took it out now there is plenty of room in fact I added a few small pieces of rubber weather strip to take up some of the space. Battery is easy to get in and out now and pretty stable in the compartment.

Thank you.
