| WPL C-14 question
Hi everybody, I am new here and I have some questions about the wpl c14. Firstly does this truck count as a crawler or is it too much like a toy(am I eligible for this forum)? Secondly the WPL kit comes with a 180 size dc motor, I have heard that a 30A esc and a 4.8V 1400mah battery will work with it as well as a fly sky 2.4ghz remote, is this correct? Lastly does anyone have any tips about water proofing the wpl c14? Cheers, Adam |

Welcome. I have a c14 my self fun little truck. Common size for crawler is 1/10. But we have here also a micro section Scale Rigs General Tech - Micro Scale Rigs at RCCrawler.com and a huge tread for the c14 WPL C14 I use a cheap 20A Esc from EBay and my hacked Flysky GT3B. I run it with a 1000mAh 2S Lipo. |

Late to the party, but I’m bored. These take 7.4V batteries, like the one typically specified is a 7.4V 2S 500 mAh Li-ion. I’d go for a 1000 mAh and up for the best runtimes. Best tips for waterproofing these WPLs is to pack the axles and gearbox/transfer case with a good plastic-safe (and waterproof) grease. I’ve had waterproof Green Grease recommended to me a few times. It is an automotive grease described as being safe for seals and O-rings and such, so that lets you know it won’t destroy rubber. The circuit boards, ESC, servos and the like can be waterproofed with plasti-dip either brushed on, sprayed on or dipped. Check out RunThatRc on Youtube. He runs his trucks underwater, uses Green Grease and Plasti Dip and hasn’t reported any issues with either. Anything RC or miniature is a toy. We need to stop fooling ourselves that we’re not playing with toys. *Adult toys*, sure, but toys all the same. That being said, the plastic kit or RTR versions are barely “hobby grade” but that KM (kit, metal) version is hobby grade by my estimation. |
