Build Questions.

I am going to Build a Trail King Pro. My question is, how far into the build before you have to decide on a body? I know the chassis can be set up for different wheel bases.

I would pick the point where you have to decide on the length of the frame rails. Not that you cannot make adjustments once the build is complete, but it would just require tear down.

It really depends on the build and what I am after.

For my Enduro C1 kit build, I knew I wanted a fairly scale body, so I did a bit of research to see what hard bodies I could possibly use. With that, when you are talking about chassis with a 12.3" WB, your choices are wide open, that is the defacto standard.

When you have a specific body in mind, you need to tailor the chassis to the build. For my TRX4 Tonka build, I had to shorten the WB down to accommodate the wheel wells on the body.

The long and the short of it is you can get anything to work, you just have to decided how much work you want to put into it.

Agreed. There are only so many options for both kit/body, depends on how scale you want it. A comp crawler or basher is not going to be wheelbase critical, but a scaler is. So that should decide what links/mounting points etc you are going to use and not vice versa.

Exactly what ferp420 said, I have many 1 off builds and always build around the body.
