Default Proline Powerstroke XT stiffness?

I'm contemplating about putting Powerstroke XT shocks on my Prerunner project, but I'm not sure if they're too hard or not.

The spring rates for the main long springs (not the dual stage) are 2.5 lb/in and

3.3 lb/in.

Are these soft enough to put on crawler chassis? Or will they be too stiff?

What I'm putting them on is a SCX10ii turned prerunner, I'm aiming for a 60/40 rear/front weight ratio, so slightly harder shocks might not be terrible, but are the proline shock springs within "crawler" hardness?

Thanks.

(and I'm not going to be using the stock shock mount position, its going to be mounted much higher up).

Depends on what the rig weights

It'll weigh pretty much the same as most other crawlers, maybe half a pound more

...."most other crawlers" ...thats precise

The spring should allow for 25-35% of sag for crawling usually

IMO, they are going to be too stiff with the springs that come with them. I have a set that I tried on an SCX10-II, but would probably have needed a lot more body weight to make them work well. The shock part is super plush and I had no leak issues to speak of. If I had been bothered to get some different springs with lower spring rates I think they would have been great.

Really depends what you're going for though... if your prerunner is going to be an actual prerunner then a stiffer spring rate is probably what you want to soak up the higher speed bumps.

I do want some droop with the suspension. I'm going to be using a big 5000mah 3s mounted on the rear, along with 2 spare tires, so it probably should work.
