Newbie battery question So I did some forum diving before deciding to ask this total newbie question, not a newb to RC but to LiPo batteries. So the question is, is it safe to leave the battery plugged into my SCX24 between charges? Unfortunately at the moment I only get to play with mine for few minutes at a time, so I'm not draining the battery down to the point it needs charging all to often. As of now I flip the off switch and unplug the battery. Is unplugging the battery over kill or is it safer? |
Re: Newbie battery question 1 Attachment(s) I just unplug it. I also made a small battery wire extension. I don't remember where I heard that suggestion, but it'll keep from wearing out the plug on the esc. |
Re: Newbie battery question As DRED805 said, just unplug it. It's a good habit whether it's safer or not. |

That's a great idea. The reason I asked is because some times those darn tiny body clips can be a pain lol. I have a few of the female side, just need to get me some of the male side to make some of those extensions. |
Re: Newbie battery question If the on/off switch is physically in-line with the battery, then it is ok to leave it connected; there is no way for the ESC to draw current. If the on/off switch is on the ESC, or comes out of the ESC, but is not in line with the battery, then no, do not leave it connected; the ESC continues to draw current when the power switch is off. |
