Default I'm not quite new, but live got a newbie question.

I just bought a vs4 portal kit, I'm not intimidated by the build, although if anybody has any tips in open to ideas. My question is: I looked an the electronics sticky, but it's kinda old and didn't seem relevant. I bought the kit, cause I wanted to build it, but I can't find much new info on transmitters and receivers. What do you guys suggest? I'm sure I need 4 channels for the kit, maybe a 5th for a potential winch.
Id like to stay around the 200$ range, but also recognize that might not be possible. Just wanted to see what everybody else is running.

With that budget in mind, I would get:

-flysky gt5 $76 on eBay or Amazon
-Holmes Crawlmaster sport 13t 540 $15 from a reputable retailer (amain, rpp, Holmes, etc)
-Hobbywing 1080 $44 on amazon
-And 3 DS3235 servos $27 each

Grand total $216.

While certainly not the best setup ever, you’ll be hard pressed to find a better setup for the money. I’ve bought each of those products individually multiple times, haven’t had any reliability issues so far. I currently have that exact setup in my tf2, and have no plans to change it.

@twade984 I think you just got me set up! I meant 200 for TX and rx, but I like your thinking much more. Plus I'm sure my lhs will has some of that stuff. Thanks! That was more info than I was looking for, but that also answered all of my next questions.
Any thoughts on a servo winch? I don't think I need it but since it's set up for it...

Twade nailed it! I run the 3bros overland winch. Its direct power, runs on 2-4s, n its not overly expensive. Reefs has a new one out as well, n i think nsdrc also has a full size n a micro winch. I know they have a micro for sure, im lookin to get one for my c1 rig

I wasn’t sure, so I just assumed you meant $200 for everything.

Normally I’m not big on just finding the cheapest option out there, (and particularly supporting knock-off companies) but Those items have all proved a good value.

I’ve never used a winch of any kind, so I can’t necessarily recommend one.
