noob! hi all"thumbsup" i don't have a crawler yet! but i am really innterested in geting one,any body have some addvice on what to get and what not to get! i have had lots of rc's so i am quite good with building things! but i don't have that much of an idea on building a crawler, what's involved in locking the diff's?where to buy stuff from(i am in the uk)!! |
It all depends on what you want. First figure out what size rig you want. If you want a super, do you want a shaftie? Everyone on here will help you out but you will have to choose a direction. I would go with a Clod since they are an awesome truck. If you have an Emaxx you could convert that too... |
Yeah, you really need to choose what you want before you ask anything. Do a little searching. This type of question has been covered countless amount of times. |
ok guy's so if i ordered a clod buster will this be a good base to start with? then whats the next step do i run the clod as it is or do i need to get other parts? |
With a clod, you can either build a super or a 2.2. I would get a 2.2 tlt if i were you. I got one and it is great, easy to build and very fun to drive. |
welcome click on the link in my sig for tlt build you will get the idea it's acomplete new bie guide i did when i started my first build |

http://www.thecrawlerstore.com/geartrain.html The axels are $140 new, you can probably save $20 to $40 going to ebay for used ones. Then pick a chassis, wheels, electronics, etc.... |
Check out the site in my sig matey, building a crawler in the UK gets a whole lot more complicated... :) |
what about the junfac tracer kit? from the crawler store |
The Tracer uses the stock TLT transmission - you're not much better off with it vs. a stock TLT chassis. |
would the junfac tracer RTR kit be better then? |

I would order an XRC chassis and links from Dave at the link below. Check out his Clod super! http://www.xtreme-rc-hobbies.net/ The Verticle Smile, SW2, Stick, pimp slap, etc will all work too... |
If your not wanting to spend a lot of money to start out with, you gotta look at the wheelie king 4x4. You get everything you need for a crawler and by just picking up a few more items you can build yourself a cool shaftie."thumbsup" |
