Don't use any of it...just use the "spacer" mod to pull the other 2 outer planet gears upward into the sun gear like the other 2 planet gears. No need for any type of goooo

I didn't take any out...same thing you did really. I just used a 3mm nut under each of those 2 planetaries that sit lowest in the case.

For Sthamby:
The reason this works is...the tranny has the 4 planetary gears around the center sun gear. When you assemble the tranny as per the instructions, you end up with 2 of the planetaries that do not come in contact with the sun gear. This is what makes it have the "differential" action...which is what we DON'T want.

By adding a spacer below those 2 planetaries that when dropped in, sit down the lowest, you make it so that all 4 of the planetary gears are now in contact with the central sun gear at all times. I found that some plain 'ol 3mm nuts are just the right thickness and inside diameter to fit over the planetary gear pin/shaft. No more differential.

Nice thing about this is that now you have no mess inside your tranny, so now parts are easy to fix if need be, or if you ever want to go back to an unlocked tranny, you can by simply removing those 3mm nut spacers.

i want to try the washer technique on my other pede tranny, but for my first crawler, i used Gorilla Glue, i doubt it will come undone, it has been locked good for about 4 or 5 months.
