A good Super class wheelbase is between 16 and 18 inches, depending on how well your rig steers.
For 2.2 class 12.5 is the max and that is what a lot of people run. I have my 2.2 at about 12 inches.

12.5 is the max alowed ? and is longer better? which has more advantages, short vs long, also is that 12.5 from axle shaft to axle shaft?

Measured from the center of the front axle nut to center of the rear axle nut with the vehicle ready to go (everything on the chassis that will be run during the comp).

The 12.5 max is only for 2.2 class.

Too long and it will be harder to make sharp turns (which is where dig helps a lot). Too short and you may not be able to complete big near vertical climbs.
