Hey guys kinda new here but i have been looking at these scalw rigs, and i just have to try one for myself. What is a ok truck to start off with thats not that much money doesnt Tamiya make one besides the highlift. I seen a few ppl with the one that is independent up front and solid axle in back. I think you're talking about the Tamiya Touareg kit CC-01 chassis. It makes a decent low budget scaler if you add a hard body and some scale details.
About $150 with ESC.

The possibilities are almost endless. I put some geolanders on mine with a GD-600 gear reduction and it is crazy how capable those mods made it.

I put a Clod body on mine, added some scale details like a hi-lift jack, dog kennel with dog, tents, sleeping bags, jumper cables, roof rack stacked with some firewood, spare tire on back of Savage rear bumper, front brush guard etc. I call it my pretend scaler, since it's a tub chassis and not a true ladder frame. I still have a blast with it
