Default Radio

I have a HPI TF3 2 channel stocker right now and a Mamba max esc is on the way. Should I get a better radio? I kinda want front dig or 4WS later, so I 'm thinkin' 3 or 4 channel. I am on a bit of a budget though. Is there anything I can get for around 100 to 150 that woul be worth it?
I've been told without adjustable EPA that I won't really get the full wow factor of the max and other such responses. Is the TF3 really that crappy?

The biggest bang for your buck would be a JR XR3. It has a 3 position switch for independent 4WS. Or, even better, the Spektrum DX3. It's the same exact radio as the JR, but it's Spektrum rather than FM. If you cna find one, the XR3 will run you maybe $50 on Ebay. The DX3 will be more obviously, but less than $150 I think. And both radios have all the necessary bells-n-whistles, like EPAs, which are almost mandatory when running high torque digital servos.

Both radios are discontinued, so they can be tricky to find. Stay away from the XR3i and the DX3.0. Those are the updated versions and don't have the 3-position switch.

If you really want to go cheap, you can get a TQ3 and modify it to give you independent front and rear steer and EPAs. More work than K B's recommendations, but cheaper in the end. There's some good guides on here on how to modify your TQ3.
