Default wanna stear me in the right direction?

hey guys ..im not a neewbie to r/c .. but i am a newbie to crawling/trail driving.. i own multiple xmods but all of them are cars and are setup for drifting.. i would like to get into crawling but i want to step out of the xmod scale and into sumthing a little bigger like 1.9 or 2.2 tire size trucks.. i was wondering wat chassis you guys think would be best and where to start.. my grandfather knows a guy that owns a LHS so it shouldnt be to hard for me to get styrene and miscelanous r/c parts but i am on a budget of about 50$ a week and right now i have saved up about 100$ .. so where should i start/look???

here are pics of SOME of the terain i will be driving in...

it includes mulch/coble stone/sand/and grass/small rock

ok so what are my options.. .im thinkin k2-3s is the way to go since its only 50 bucks shipped but i was wondering if it would cost less to just make my own chassis to the same specs out of styrene.. i have hand tools and a dremel so it wouldnt be hard to work with the styrene and my grandfather knows a guy that owns a LHS (as i stated b4) so i could get it there prob for a discounted price... but i need to know.. what tranny would be cheapest but easy to maintane and be able to be beaten on.. and where can i find axles and the other bits and parts.. i mean idk the difference between t/e-maxx shocks and tlt shocks.... so can sum1 point me in the right direction??

Do you want it to look like a real truck and have decent preformance or do you want a monster from hell that is an awesome crawler but has a lack of scale and looks?

Man just buy a HPI Wheelie King 4x4 and go from there the possibilities are endless.

so it looks like my best option and cheapest option without buying a used one is buying the hpi wheely king 4wd for about 200$ and doing the HPI crawler conversion for about 65$ seen here > http://www.hpiracing.com/news/2007061801.html

Man pull the brace out of the rear and wheel the mess out of it right out of the box then mod as you go. First thing I would do even before streching it would be install some lockers you said you know someone that owns a hobby shop then get them to order you the Maximizer lockers for the wheelie king just about any hobby shop can get those. not the best but they work. then change the tires.

Do you believe the WK is better than the AX10? Or just a better value to get started??

Well it all depends if you want to build a crawler or buy a crawler. the ax-10 is better out of the box than the wk but the wk can be easily be made to preform better than the ax-10

im officially goin wk and i believe im gunna just extend the wheel base with sum t-maxx lower links and a custom upper......and remove the chassis brace... anything else i should do.. also what drive shafts should i use.. or would i have to make custom ones?

also i will be buying a steering servo mount to mount the servo above the axle

well I left my LHS empty handed they have both the WK and AX10 but I am still up in the air about which I want. I think I am going to wait and see what everybody thinks about the AX10 and what the aftermarket does. I know what the WK is capable so I am going to see if the AX10 will hold up.
