So I was thinking, if I should order a Wheelie King, or buy an Axial Scorpion. I don't have anything at all as far as things needed. So if anyone coulde point me in the right direction on what I should get as far as parts and where to order them from. And also what I would need to do to make the WK rock crawling ready. Would the WK be cheaper and better overall for crawling? And I want to upgrade the motor to something around the 30-40 range depending on how much yall say ill need to spend for other stuff.

Either one is good, the Axial Scorpion is perfect for competition and with the correct modifications the HPI Wheely King is just as good (visit this page for Wheely King mods http://www.rccrawler.com/crawlerking1.html) I guess it depends on how much your willing to spend.:-P Axial Scorpion requires: 2 channel radio 1 servo motor 540/550 size 7.2V battery pack charger HPI Wheely King requires: 8 AA batteries

Axial by far, Wheely comes with a bunch of useless junk electronics that makes it appear to be the better deal. When you think out of the box capability axial wins. When you think that you don't need to go out and get new tires and a better chassis the axial still wins. Axial comes with everything you need to start crawling minus the electronics. Buy a cheap radio $39 a cheap esc $40 a cheap motor $20 a battery $15 and charger and start crawlin. Last edited by Mnster; 08-25-2007 at 01:41 AM.

Mnster is right. They are 2 different rigs, the Axial being more advanced. If you want a simple setup go WK and upgrade as you feel neccessary. If ya wanna jump the gun a bit, go with the Axial and get some decent electronics for it.

Okay so i'm set on getting a scorpion, but I want good nternals so I wont have to worry about them for a while. This is what I was thinknig on getting so far and tell me if my picks are good also please. All from TCS. Motor: BM9 brushless with the adapter plate. It says on the adapter that it doesnt have a pinion do I need to get one or does the scorpion come with one. And the scorpion also has a gearbox right? battery: Whats best for cheap around 20-30 and lasts long but charges fast? Servo:Cheap but good servo. Radio: A TQ3 off Ebay for 20 bucks. Charger: Something cheap that charges fast around 20-30. Don't I need a receiver? And im sure im missing something. Thanks for all the help post ANYTHING that might help please.

Looks good so far all thats missing is the reciever, I think rcp crawlers and tcs.com offer TQ3's with the recievers included but they may be out of your price range. tcs.com also offers a 6 cell double barrel battery pack for $18.99 they come in both a tamiya style connector or a deans connector. A good cheap servo would be the Hitec 645mg its a metal geared servo withe 133oz of torque and is priced around $39.00. Happy Crawling!! Last edited by goslo; 08-25-2007 at 12:13 PM.

I agree w/ goslo on the electronics...I bought a tq3 off the bay w/ receiver for 30$, got the 645mg from ebay for like 20$, and got an LRP runner from tower for 39$(I think). I would not advise using this esc though, I have not been to happy w/ it. I am also using a 65 turn integy lathe that cost like 18$ from tcs.
