| New to this sport...
Hey guys whats up? Im new to this sport but not new to the rc hobby. My question is what kit do you guys suggest, right now my only problem is that I don't really have a ton of money to spend on one but I am anxious to get started. I have about $200 to spend right now and I really want to get one like yesterday...please help me find a good one for a beginner.

A 4x4 wheely king is approx $200. You can start with it the way it is. Lock the diffs, turn the tires backwards, and remove the rear sway bar. Also look at the WK section at the sticky for HPI converts a WK.

Ok now my question is, my friend just purchased the new Axial 10 Scorpion or whatever it is called. If I buy the WK and mod it to a crawler can it compete with his new truck? And also would it be cheaper if I built a custom rig or is that a ton of money?

Price is going to vary depending on your skills.....bargain shopping and ability to make as many parts as you can. Rigs vary from a few hundred to nearly a grand after all is said and done. Mine on average end up with around $700.00 invested. The Wheely King is a good start for the money. You get alot of parts from the rig to use if you decide to use a different chassis. Just research plenty before you buy |

rig= 10% yes, with a few easy mods, it can compete. WK's are RTR, AX-10's are rollers. search around the wheely king section, alot of good tech, easy to follow tech in there.

I was reading the WK section and it looks like after all is said and done with the WK its going to cost as much if not more than the Ax-10 kit...would it just be better to get the kit or would it give me more exp to get the WK and mod it?

if you are willing to wait awhile and buy electronics here and there, go with the AX-10 for sure. all the electronics to get a AX running will be about $140.00 new (entry level stuff), cheaper used of course.

if you have those other items... then: 35 for a moped v16 esc. 25 for a servo 17 for a motor. you are on the rocks. upgrade as you see fit.
