Default Wheel Hexes

I'm not really new to RCCrawling, but I'm new to this whole hex idea:-P

I've got an sw2 TLT and it's amazing. I have some traxxas wheels, and I've heard they're not very reliable when it comes to hexes. That is, unless you glue the hexes in...

I was wondering what everyone meant by "glue the hexes in the wheels". I'm assuming everyone was talking about gluing the hex from the tlt axle into the hex in the wheel...

That leads me to my next question... I have metal hexes, they came with my axles ( I get em used). I ordered a new front axle housing because my old one was trash. I noticed that there were plastic hexes in there... so my question is : should I glue in the metal hexes, or track down a set of plastic hexes? I don't mind doing either... I know the metal hexes would be alot stronger, but I don't want to "waste" them on traxxas wheels...

How hard would it be to find another set of metal hexes?

any input will be appreciated

Thanks, Greg

Greg,

My TLT cralwer weighs 7.2 pounds, I am running single narrowed Pede front wheels in Moabs FILLED with airsoft BB's, a 7 cell back, with either a 45T integy with 15T pinion (sand) or a 55T integy with a 9T. I have driven it off a boulder and dropped it 20 feet onto the rocks below, broke a link, smashed a shock. Other abuse has killed 2 servos, mangled a body, ripped one of the tires from the wheel, ruined 6 revo drive shaft ends and shattered 3 diffs but never had a problem with the hexes. I have only been driving it for about 3 months though.

I say drive it untill there is a problem, THEN gule the hex into the hub, or buy a set of Ericksons.

::EDIT::
Oh, I'm also using the G-Made wideners.

I would think that any LHS would have them. Both of the ones around here keep them because of the racers I guess.
