what is the ideal amount of flex for a 2.2?

Depends on the terrain, but I think the most usable would be like 60-70 degrees.

when i first built mine about 3 months ago it had almost 90.but ive limited it down too about 50 and it climbs better and gets hung up alot less.thats here in crawlerado.just my 2 cents

I think a good rule of thumb is enough to be able to fit a tire the same size under it.
i.e.
raise one corner 4.5" before another tire lifts if running 4.5" tall tires

so 100* is too much? hmmm...

No really, my 12.5"wb WK is around 6" and it seems to work well for almost all situations.

we had a guy show up to our national comp with 170-180* of articulation and it didn't crawl very well, i beat him with no steering

Indeed, the 1::1 crawlers could easily get over 80-90 degrees, yet the choose not to. I defer to the knowledge of those who get paid to know...
