| holy cow. i et on this forum and lurk for a few days reading as much as i can, and i get absolutely no where. i am trying to gather information to get into rc rock crawling. i used to have 2 full size crawlers (toyota and suzuki samurai), so i am familiar with the concept, but holy cow, talk about a whole new set of terminology. my thoughts were to build something with solid axles (look like real truck), and a relatively realistic scale. so far i am thinking 12.5" to be a 2.2 truck, and try to be relatively 'scale' looking. I want to build my own frame, either out of tube (brake lines?) or boxed aluminum? (think this is possible), but it would be nice to be able to build as i get $$... where can i find information about where to build my mounts, how much room i need for this and that (servos, battery packs, transmission etc.) am i in way over my head, or should i try to do this. When i built trucks, i started with motor/frame and went from there, but it seems like so much more option in this world and i am coooonfused. basically i am saying is it feasable to build a frame, then add links and axles then when time comes, the electronics etc? i don't really like the stretched WK, but it seems like that's the best option for a newbie starting out |

| Welcome. To get all the info you want I believe you better get organized and decide what direction you want to go. IMO since you are starting in this a good thing would be to get a AX-10. It is a nice platform and you can later decide if you want to build your own frame. If you do you can transfer the AX-10 axles and tranny. I hope this helps. |
