TCSCrawlers.com has the Gopher chassis which is a nice little cheap unit. Its price is low than to it being mass produced, not a hand made piece like a FatDog or DoubleJ design. It works fine with Droop, there is a thread in the Axial forum right now of a guy building one on page 1. TCS, RCP, RPP, and Holmes Hobbies all stock the Axial parts. The Axles and Trannys they've all had for some time. Though they are nice which means these are selling fast so you might have to plan the purchases. Of course many of those same vendors have upgrade parts too like 4 link plates and c hubs and knuckles.

anything custom made is going to be alot more expensive then mass produced. both ways will work pretty much the same. what do you consider "too expensive"?

I have the Gopher from www.TCScrawlers.com and to be honest there is no way I could make a chassis this nice for the price they are asking. I'd probably botch the first one I try to put together... the second would work but look shoddy... and it would have taken a weekend to do. I'd rather work a bit of overtime doing what I like and then buy a gopher... smooth clean welds... nice powder coat... etc... etc... Just my 2 cents ;)

they are on sale for this reason: "These are being sold $20 less than our intended retail. There was a mistake in production and the upper shock holes are threaded to 6-32." is it hard to find 6-32 screws or what because i want one and i will buy it if its no big deal

You just make them yourself. A package of traxxas rod ends and some aluminum tube. Here is a link on taping them yourself. http://www.rccrawler.com/customlink.htm or you can buy some threaded rod and some aluminum tube to slide over it. Length is up to you. 50/50... 40/60...
