Arrow New to RC crawling .. ARIZONA . PICTURES..

Hello from Sunny Arizona ! Yep I’m a NEWB

Names Jeff and I am an avid 4 wheeler (1993 mostly Jeep YJ, D60/D44 locked, on 38’s) and have been wheeling for a few years and love the excitement and challenge of the rocks. Anyhow I’ve been paying attention to some of the RC crawlers for a while… Looks like a hell of a good time and a great way to include my Son (7 years old) into a hobby that he can participate in. He love wheelin with me and wrenching on the rig in the garage as well.

The problem is I have no idea as to what is a quality product to start with / a good foundation. Any inside tips to products, what I need, and where to get?

Just for fun I’m throwing a coiple of photos of my real rig up on the board because I don’t have a RC crawler yet.

Welcome to the forums and welcome to our crack. Run now and you might not get addicted like the rest of us!! If you are considering doing any comps, I would either pick up a SW3 Chassis from Bender and build one yourself, if you are the building type. The easiest and quickest way is to pick up the Axial AX10, pretty good right out of the box. With some mods it can be a really good crawler. I have one that I have made into a comp crawler and love it!! I have another one at home that is a Xmas present for my 11yr old son. Welcome again, there are tons of helpful threads on how to do things on here. Use the search button first with the fear of Flamage!!!

I have a AZVJC sticker on my rig, but I wouldn't say I am a member really

What kind of info are you looking for on it? Are you in the East valley? Maybe we should get together and you could check out my WK rig and drive it a bit and see if you like it. I could tell you all about it and what ya need

I was actually going to head out this Saturday to a spot East of Florence along the Flo-Kelvin hwy. Was going to take the XJ out too.

I'll be wrenching ... doing a stretch on the YJ bringing it to about 107" in Wheel base.. And I have to reinstall the new tranny and Tcase as well... I'm really tied up this weekend

Yeah, I hear ya...I wish I was doing some wrenching on mine. I am working on full widths for it and will be doing the stretch to mine also.

Whatever questions ya have on the crawler...just ask. The best way to research is to drive one and see what you do and don't like about it. We definitely should meet up some weekend and I'll get you some drive time with mine. Hope you like twin sticks though...no pistol radios here

Welcome nice to see more from our state, looks like a fun trail. Been a while since I have posted on AZVJC partly cause it's blocked at work.

Another option to useing the TLT axle is useing the Axial parts tranny and axles pluss they are already locked, then a SW3 or what have you or like already said a AX10 depends on how much you want to spend.
